WOULD
YOU JOIN ME
FOR
TEA ?
Would
you join me for tea
And
have a biscuit or two
While
I tell about me,
You
can tell about you ?
Well
I come from a town
That
is pretty but small
Deep
in Texas it's found
Where
Pecan Trees grow tall.
I've
two brothers and some sisters
That
I truly do adore
Don't
wanna give your brain a blister
But
I'd like to tell ya more !
I
love to drink my coffee
With
some sugar and some milk
I
like the feel of cotton
Tho'
I don't care much for silk.
I
look just like my mother
And
her name was 'Bettie Lou'
A
Preacher is one brother
And
the other I love too.
I
have a married daughter
And
her name is 'Shelley Kay'
I
wouldn't take a quarter
Or
a Mil for her today.
My
favorite time is mornings
When
the birds are singing loud
I
dread those siren warnings
And
a city's noisy crowd.
I
love it in the country
With
a big wide open space
I
was 30 when Christ Saved me,
I
believe in Saved by Grace.
I'm
happy to say I'm a 'Granny'
And
I 'm thankful every day !
My
nephews call me 'Nanny'
'Coz
we talk the Southern way.
I've
always been a house-wife
As
a job, it is the best
I
live a very simple life
Old-fashioned
? Thank goodness yes !
I
like to watch old movies
Those
still shown in black and white
I
love old fashioned Preaching
Sundays
and on Wednesday night.
My
accent's very heavy
Yes
I'm Southern thru' and thru'
Love
gravy with those biscuits !
What's
a Texas gal to do ?
I
like to write my poems
And
short stories quite a lot
I've
been asked have I been published
Yes
I have and books I've got.
But
I really have no interest
Any
more for doing that ;
I'd
rather just to write
So from now on that's where I'm
at.
I
reckon that's the jest of it
There
isn't too much more
Oh,
I don't sew and I don't knit
But
cooking I adore !
I'm
truly just a simple gal
With
common sense, I pray
I'm
down to earth, not formal
I
don't change from day to day.
I
love my precious Saviour
I
look forward to my Home
For
Jesus saved this sinner,
He's
the best Friend I have known.
