TOUCH
OF A CHILD
Today
I watched my daughter
As
she played without a care
No
thoughts beyond the moment
-
Never noticed I was there.
A
robin came a calling
And
my little daughter smiled
The
visitor was eager
For
the touch of her, a child.
I
watched in admiration
Tho'
with tearful eyes I gazed
So
curious, yet trusting
Her
hand so lovingly, she raised.
It
seemed as tho' the robin
Whistled
'yes, I understand'
Responded
with a flutter -
Closed
the gap to touch her hand.
So
tenderly he nestled
With
a gentle peck or two
Then
looked at her as if to say
'Hello,
how do you do?'
Her
eyes were full of wonder
And
again, my daughter smiled
My
heart was overflowing
With
my love for her, my child.
