The
Souls On Flight
Two-ninety-two
Billy
came from Texas
And
Steven came from Maine
Jim
was reared in Arkansas
Where
they get lots of rain.
Jackie
from Kentucky
And
Joe, Nebraska born
Walter
from Ohio
Back
one 1960 morn.
Susie
hailed from Denver
Where
snow was piled so high
John
from California
Beneath
a cloudless sky.
Dave
came from Wisconsin
Jeanette
from Alabam'
Mike
was from Virginia,
And
so were Wayne and Sam.
Mary,
North Dakota
And
Jenny, Washington
Paul
from Pennsylvania
Where
steel was number one.
Headed
for Chicago
Aboard
a Jet brand new
That
left at half past seven,
On
Flight Two-ninety-two.
The
Pilot' s first announcment
To
welcome passengers
"
Enjoy the flight first-timers,
Refreshments
will be served."
But
in the next few moments
All
felt the turbulence
A
storm had quickly gathered
The
clouds were dark and dense.
The
pilot climbing higher
Yet
still could not escape
A
cold front wreaking havoc,
Those
sleeping, now awake.
Joe
and Walter watching
The
wings for damage done
Sam
and Mary wondered
Would
they survive this one ?
John
and Billy hoping
Their
Pilot was the best
Wayne
was pretty frightened
And
so were all the rest.
The
intercom had static
From
all the rain and sleet
"We'll
climb above this storm folks,
Remain
now in your seats."
Jackie
feeling anxious,
Paul
hummed his favorite song
Susie
hated flying
How
she wished she'd never gone.
Dave
was getting queasy,
His
stomach tied in knots
He
focused on a crossword
Then
tried connecting dots.
Jeanette
peered out the window
The
sky a grayish-black
That
moment she was thinking
'
I wish I could turn back. '
The
Pilot's voice was nervous,
Seemed
hesitant and sad
"
We've lost another engine -
Truth
be told, it's looking bad. "
But
there among the people
On
Flight Two-ninety-two
A
Christian, a Believer
Who
knew just what to do.
He
stood and held his Bible
Said
"Folks my name is Jim
I'm
going to God in prayer,
Let's
put our Faith in Him."
And
when he finished praying
He
stood and faced the crowd
To
ask them each a question,
A
personal one, aloud:
"Friends
do you know our Saviour ?
Friend
if you died today
Where
would you spend Eternity,
Have
you heard of Calvary's Way ?"
Then
he gave his Testimony
And
witnessed to each one
About
our Precious Jesus,
God's
Only Begotten Son.
He
read to them the Scriptures,
All
about Salvation's Plan
And
when Susie started crying,
He
reached to take her hand.
"Oh
Jesus loves you, sinner
With Him, you'll never die
This
earth may soon to lose you
But
you'll live with Him on High."
When
Billy cried "Oh Saviour,
Please
save my soul today"
Repentance
in his heart was
To
be his Saving Grace.
John
and Steven praying,
Now
both on bended knee
"Dear
Jesus I repent and,
I
ask You Lord, Save me."
Walter
cried "Dear Jesus,
Please
save me from my sins
I
ask for Your Forgiveness,
And
Lord I make amends."
Jackie
Trusted Jesus,
To
wash her white as snow,
Believed
upon her Saviour
Of
sin and doubt, let go.
They
did not Trust in angels
They
did not Trust in saints
They
Trusted in our Saviour
ONLY
Christ can wash our stains.
Not
all would come to Jesus,
Yes
some would turn away
But
some souls found Salvation,
Those
who Trusted Christ that day.
Now
Jim and the new Believers
In
silence, hand in hand
They
bowed their heads in prayer
Before
the Jet hit land.
Later
at the scene of
What
was left, Two-ninety-two
The
crash made all the headlines
For
so many died, it's true.
There
were reporters swarming
'Mid
remains that rainy night
And
when they found Jim's Bible,
A
note was pinned inside.
They
found a piece of paper,
Handwritings,
ink of blue
Susie,
Billy, Steven,
And
Walter's, were a few.
Next
to each name was written:
"Today
my soul was Saved,
I
Trusted in my Saviour
To
Christ my heart I gave."
"So
if you find this Bible,
Tell
our families we're alive
For
we claimed the Blood of Jesus
And
our souls, they did survive !"
