With
a brown leather Bible he traveled around
Singing
Gospel, as legend goes
Along
the roadside walked from town to town
But
his name - nobody knows.
So
everyone called him The Guitar Man
And
he always sang for the Lord
He
travelled around with a pick in hand
For
strumming that guitar chord.
He
wore tan leather boots and a cowboy hat
And
a jacket made of rawhide
Singing
God’s Word in the Churches he was at
About
why Christ was Crucified.
Folks
say he came from the Cajun Territory,
Married
a Southern Christian pearl
But
she died young and went to live in Glory
They
say he cried for his Louisiana girl.
Heard
him sing one night many years ago
A
tune, “In The Sweet By And By”
He
sang at the Revival and joy began to flow
And
God, HE knew the reason why.
Standing
at the Pulpit, cowboy hat on his head
Sang
Gospel, with a pick in hand
He
looked into the crowd, but all that he said
Was
“They call me the ‘Guitar Man.’
Heard
years later, came an end to his life
Passed
on - to a better place
Folks
all say, he was joining his wife
Had
met with God‘s Amazing Grace.
It's
said by some that on his headstone now,
Carved
by an unknown hand:
“He
sang the Gospel ’til his heart gave out,
And
here lies the Guitar Man."

This
poem 'The Guitar Man' is Dedicated
to
my dear friend Samantha. She lost a son
too
and his name is Georgie. He was truly a
wonderful
Gospel Singer and always played
his
guitar. Georgie was a Christian when he
left
this earth and he loved the Lord so much.
Love
and hugs to you dear friend Samantha,
your
sis-in-Christ Tammy
