The
Church

There
is a hill of rock and dirt
Where
once a building stood
Upon
a mound, a country church,
of
old white painted wood.
The
Preacher was a country boy
Whose
sermons, they were true
Souls
were Saved inside that church
And
afterwards, baptized too.
But
I remember a certain night
One
summer now long ago
The
Preacher preached with all his might
About
Hell where the lost souls go.
He
told about God's only Son,
Of
the crimson flow, he said
That
paid the price for all my sins
Yes
the Blood my Saviour shed.
I
heard about the rugged cross
And
the reason God's Son was sent
That's
when my heart began to break,
When
I knew that I needed to repent.
So
as I sat upon the pew
It
was then that I realized
My
heart had never known His love,
So
I listened with tears in my eyes.
I
sang along to 'Amazing Grace'
Then
we sang 'Just As I Am'
Don't
know which verse, but then I knew
I
Believed in the Blood of the Lamb.
My
heart it weighed about a ton
But
I somehow walked that aisle
Got
down on my knees with a heavy
heart
And
when I rose, I rose with a smile.
I
gave my heart to Jesus Christ
When
I heard that He Paid my bill
I
gained Salvation to my soul
That
night in the church on the hill.
