ONE
SUNDAY
MORNING
One Sunday morning at
our church
I can still remember
well
The Preacher preached
of Calvary
Of Heaven, and of
hell.
No one stood to
walk the aisle
Except for one lost
soul
But when she reached
the Preacher, stopped
To question him, her
goal.
She wore a look
of sad unrest
No peace within her
eyes
Asked ' Preacher what
more must I do ?
For I try..... and try.....and
try. '
" Please tell me what
more I must do
In order to be
Saved ?
I have given much
to charities,
Shall all my sins
be waved ? "
" Or if I'm good,
as good as gold
And ne'er a word
to curse ?
Perhaps if I stopped
telling lies ?
For lying seems much
worse. "
" Oh shall I pray
a prayer of
Those prayers memorized ?
I'll chant the chantings
once a day
Until I'm hypnotized. "
" What must I do
? the woman asked
I'm a good and
faithful wife
What works can I
perform for Him
To earn Eternal Life
? "
" Shall I to scrub
from dusk 'til dawn
And labor all my
days ?
How can I earn
my way to Christ ?
Please tell me of
the ways. "
" For I can climb
that ladder if
I get the 'list'
from you
Perhaps if I give
up the things
That feel so good
to do ? "
" If I should wear
around my neck
A shiny golden cross,
To say that I
' believe in God '
Then would I still
be Lost ? "
" Or what if I
to pray and pray
Each day upon my
knees ?
I'll try to practice
one and all
-Those things so I
can ' please.' "
" I've prayed to others....oft'
to saints
And ' petitioned ' in
His Name
I've talked to Mary
many times
So will I be to
blame ? "
Now the Preacher did
not recognize
This visitor that day
But he answered
her in honesty,
" There is but just
ONE Way. "
" You cannot climb to
Heaven friend,
Instead, you must Repent
Not for
righteous men our Saviour died
But for
sinners Christ was sent. "
" For working for
Salvation is
Another of satan's lies
Not Mary nor a
saint will hear
Your pleas and all
your cries. "
" But God commendeth
to us love
While we were sinners
yet
In Romans 5 and
in Verse 8 ,
Important, don't forget. "
He showed to her
in Chapter 10
Of Romans, 9 thru'
12
Said " Friend you cannot
earn your way,
Or merit for yourself.
"
" For Jesus died for
all your sins,
He's ALREADY Paid the
Price -
Once and for all
that Debt was Paid
When HE made that
Sacrifice. "
" If you repent of
all your sins,
If in your heart
you know;
And call on Christ
by Faith ALONE
HE will not tell
you 'No'. "
" If you could earn
your way to Him,
Then Jesus died in
vain
And all His sufferings
a waste
Including all His pain.
"
" But we know what
our Saviour did,
It was not in
vain, you see
When Jesus shed His
Blood that day
He died for you
and me. "
Then he showed to
her in Romans 10
Right there in Verse
Thirteen -
It was a Scripture,
yes indeed
That she had never
seen.
Romans
10: 13 :
For
whosoever shall call upon the
name
of the Lord shall be Saved
" Friend, Mary will not
hear your pleas,
She cannot heal your
pain
For it was Christ
upon that cross.....
Those petitions, all
in vain. "
The Preacher was a
Godly man
And he cared about
her soul
He knew that she
had tried to ' climb ',
That ' merits ' had
been her goal.
Right there in God's
Holy Word,
She read the Truth
that night
And realized deep within
her heart
- She was Lost now
in God's sight.
The woman knelt upon
her knees
And prayed to Christ
alone
" Dear Jesus Save this
sinner please
Of my sins I do
atone......"
" I realize I cannot
earn
Or merit my way
to You....
I cannot climb a
ladder, Lord
- No works that I
can do. "
" I'm sorry for my
every sin
Dear Jesus, I
Repent
I Believe You are God's
Only Begotten Son
And for my Salvation
You were Sent. "
" I Invite You now
into my heart,
Dear Jesus please come
in,
I ask You Christ
to Save me now,
Please Save me from
my sins ! "
Then later on the
woman stood
Next to the Preacher
man
And she was now
a Child of God's
Who holds tight to
His Hand.
She witnesses to others
now
How Jesus changed her
heart
She found out that
she cannot 'climb'
For that ladder fell
apart.

Luke
13: 3
I
tell you, Nay; but, except ye repent,
ye
shall all likewise perish.
Ephesians,
Chapter 2 : Verses 8 & 9
For
by grace are ye saved through faith;
and
that not of yourselves: it is the gift of
God;
lest any man should boast.
John
14 : 6
Jesus
saith unto him, I am the way,
the truth,
and
the life; no man cometh unto the
Father,
but
by me.
Romans
5: Verses 8, 9
But God commendeth his love
toward us,
in that, while we were yet
sinners, Christ
died for us. Much
more then, being now
justified by his blood,
we shall be saved
from wrath through him.
Romans
10: Verses 9 - 12
That if thou shalt confess
with thy mouth
the Lord Jesus, and shalt
believe in thine
heart that God hath raised
him from the dead,
thou shalt be saved.
For with the heart man
believeth unto righteousness;
and with the
mouth confession is made
unto salvation.
For the scripture saith,
Whosoever believeth
on him shall no be ashamed.
For there is no
difference between the Jew
and the Greek; for
the same Lord over all is
rich unto all that call
upon him.
John
4: 14
But whosoever drinketh of
the water
that I shall give him shall
never thirst;
but the water that I shall
give him shall
be in him a well of water
springing up into
everlasting life.
John
5: 39
Search the scriptures; for
in them ye
think ye have eternal life;
and they are
they which testify of me.
