' That's not
fair !' Melissa cried
During hide-n-seek,
was found
' I hate you
!' were Johnnie's words
When Jimmy pushed
him down.
' Tag - you're it !'
that afternoon
Until Mary lost
her ring
' Mercy, mercy '
said Joe's mom
For Danny's
new bee sting.
' Mother-May-I ?'
followed with
A 'turn' of
Blind-Man's-Bluff
Jason pulled
on Jenny's hair
'Coz boys, they
play too rough.
George, he found
a lightening bug
That glowed
just like a star
But then he
threw a fit because
His mom couldn't
find a jar.
Becky wasn't
thrilled at all
When her best
friend moved away
She sat alone
up in her room
For no one
came to play.
' Mercy, mercy '
cried her dad
When she fell
and skinned her knee
' Does it hurt
?' sister asked
' Is it bleeding,
can I see !? '
' Don't be such
a baby !' brother said
' It's just
a scratch, you know !'
She shed some
tears in secret too
-Sometimes it
hurts her so.
' Mercy, mercy !'
yelled Irene
When Susie broke
her thumb
Bob and Jim
got in a fight
Jim said his
friend was dumb.
' Mercy, mercy !'
cried Jolene
'Coz Debbie
lost her dog
' Steve took
all the M & M 's,
He's nothing
but a hog ! '
Each day I
watched from my window
The children - their
games and fights
I watch them
laugh, run and play
Saw some not
so pleasant sights.
Then I suddenly
thought of Jesus,
And something
that was said...I'd heard
Yes, something
in particular said aloud-
There was a
sadness.......about that "Mercy" word.
" Mercy "......no,
it was never spoken
By Jesus when
he hung on the Cross
I thought about
that, while listening.....
How He'd suffered......died
for the lost.
" Mercy, Mercy ".....
it was never said;
I knew that
my sufferings were small
Nothing like
what Christ went through
No comparison......no....none
at all.
" Mercy....... Mercy ".......He
could have spoken
But He didn't.
He took the pain
" Mercy, Mercy "......oh,
thank You Jesus
For I know
You never died in vain.
" Mercy "..........such
a small word
Yet one that
Christ wouldn't say
As I watched
the children, their games and fights
I thanked God
for my Salvation that day.
