Oh
those days I still remember
Though
they seem so long ago
Stringing
popcorn in December
Walking
to the picture show.
Paper
dolls with mama's scissors
'Simon
says' and Hoola hoops
When
our milk was still delivered,
Icecream
trucks with double-scoops
Sidewalks
marked with chalky squares
When
Hopscotch we all played
County
Fairs and double dares
No
those years I wouldn't trade.
Family
picnics in the park,
Jumping
rope to silly rhymes
Hide-n-seek
out after dark,
And
Rootbeer floats for a dime !
'
Mother-May-I ', Crackerjacks
And
those prizes in the box !
Chevy
cars and Cadillacs,
Poodle
skirts and bobby-sox.
'
Blind man's bluff ' - we all got spun,
Long
before we had Email
Birthday
parties lots of fun
On
that donkey, pinned the tail.
Tho'
what I remember best of all
Happened
Christmas day each year
When
those chestnuts we would roast
Just
before the next New Year.
Home-made
gifts, we could afford
But
it always meant so much
For
mom and dad we so adored
Knew
their gifts had our own touch.
We
would always gather 'round
In
a sweet and special way
Yes
'twas joy and peace we found
On
Christ's Birthday Christmas Day.
