I    KNELT    DOWN
 

AT    THE    ALTAR
 
 

I   was  sitting  with  my  Bible
In  a  Church  one  Sunday  night
The  Preacher  had  been  preachin'
'Bout   a   ' sinner  saw  the  light '.
 
 
 

I   listened  to  the  sermon
And  those  tears  began  to  flow
Then   I   stood  and  walked  that  aisle
Just  as  far  as  I  could  go.
 
 
 

When  I  reached  the  altar
I   knelt  down  on  bended  knee
I   called  on  precious  Jesus
To  redeem  and  set  me  free.
 
 
 

A  song  was  softly  playing
That  one  called   " Just  As  I  Am "
I   cried   ' Oh  Jesus,  Save  me  ! '
Yes  I  called  upon  the  Lamb.
 
 
 

I   knelt  down  at  the  altar
And  Repented  of  all  sin
I   knelt  down  at  the   altar
Crying   "Jesus,  come  on  in."
 
 
 

I   faced  the  congregation
As  I   stood  with  tears  abound
My  heart  no  longer  heavy
Because   Jesus   I   had   found !
 
 
 

Yes  I   knelt  down  at  the  altar
With  a  heart  that  weighed  a  ton
then   called  upon  my   Saviour
Jesus  Christ,  God's  Only  begotten  Son.
 
 
 

I   knelt  down  at  the  altar
And  He  made  my  heart  brand  new !
Thank  you  Jesus  for  Salvation
Precious   Saviour,   I   love   you.
