Bye-Bye
My Little Butterfly
One
day I watched my little girl
As
she held a butterfly
I
watched her gently stroke it's wings
Joy
and wonder in her eyes.....
That
butterfly, it fluttered
In
her soft and little hand
And
when that tear slid down my cheek
As
moms, we understand.....
My
little girl in wonder
Stood
oh so very still
Barefoot
with her golden hair
As
I watched from the window sill.....
A
breeze was gently blowing
Thru'
the tree limbs just above
It
seemed that butterfly, content
'Neath
my daughter's gaze of love.....
When
it finally took to flight, she waved
And
I heard my little girl :
"
Bye-Bye my pretty butterfly "
As
she brushed back a golden curl.....
Today
I watched my little girl
As
she held her new-born child
I
watched her gently stroke his face
Joy
and wonder in her eyes.......
So
small within my daughter's arms,
As
she held a tiny hand
I
felt a tear slide down my cheek
As
moms, we understand.
