BONNIE
' THE LITTLE
WITNESS '
A little girl
named Bonnie
Lived way down
in Arkansas
My story's 'bout
the witness
That she was
to one and all.
Now Bonnie was
just seven
But she loved
her Jesus so
She walked to
Church on Sundays
Tho' her
folks would never go.
For Sunday morning
worship
She sang louder
than the rest
Her little voice
would bellow
For her Lord,
she did her best.
It happened
'twas the evening
Church revival
would begin
So there sat
little Bonnie
Singing loudly
once again.
That night there
came a visitor,
A man well
up in years
He hadn't met
our Saviour
And had never
cried those tears.
Now every time
sweet Bonnie
Bellowed out
another song
The stranger
would get angry
- 'Twould be
trouble, before long.
The man was
cold in heart
For satan had
a hold of him
So he loudly
scolded Bonnie
In the middle
of the hymn.
But Bonnie kept
on singing
And she smiled
her sweetest smile
The visitor grew
angrier
As he shuffled
down the aisle.
He walked right
up to Bonnie,
To the child
with Godly charm
He shouted 'Stop
your singing!'
- Put his hand
upon her arm.
Now all of
the congregation
Stared in disbelief,
no doubt
The Preacher
left his pulpit
To escort the
stranger out.
But just as
he approached him
Bonnie smiled
and spoke so wise
" Mister would
you sit beside me ?"
As she looked
up in his eyes.
The stranger's
mouth flew open
And was just
about to speak
When Bonnie whispered
softly
"It's just Jesus
that you seek."
All the members
now were watching
As the visitor
sat down,
Right there beside
sweet Bonnie
With ne're a
protest, not a sound.
In song again,
she bellowed -
"Jesus Christ
will dry your tears"
She looked at
him e're sweetly
This man now
old in years.
Bonnie kept on
singing
Each verse,
from first to last
The visitor sat
silent
Thinking 'bout
his life and past.
The Preacher started
preachin'
All about what
Christ had done
The stranger
next to Bonnie
Had not met
God's Only Son.
All the while
now Bonnie,
Never once let
go his hand
And something
'bout her spirit
Got a hold
of that old man.
When altar call
was started
Bonnie knew just
what to do
Said "Let's walk
that aisle together
And I'll kneel
down next to you."
Well that old
man was ready
He had witnessed
of God's love
Bonnie led him
to that altar
Then to Jesus
up above.
The stranger called
on Jesus,
He repented of
his sins
That night there
was rejoicing
As they sang
some gospel hymns.
Bonnie sang the
loudest
She had ever
sung before!
And next to
her was standing
That old man,
now lost no more.
It was hard
to tell that evening
Who sang louder
of the two
- But little
Bonnie is a witness
Down in Arkansas,
'tis true.
