'Twas
The Day
Before
Christmas

'Twas
the day before Christmas
And
mama was ill
We
prayed for a miracle
As
she lay so still.
" Dear
Jesus don't take her
'Coz
mama we'll miss "
Tip-toed
to her room
Just
to give her a kiss.
I'd
stayed up all night
Just
to fix up our tree
And
washed all the dishes
My
family needs me.
For
though I'm just seven
I'm
big and I'm strong
The
Doctor as leaving
Said
' It won't be long.'
Got
down on my knees
Once
again did I pray
"
Dear Lord now I'm begging,
Save
mama today. "
When
all of a sudden
A
racket I heard !
And
a wonderful miracle
Just
then occured !
I
ran to her room
And
saw papa had tears
For
mama was smiling
God
calmed all our fears.
" Oh
God, Oh Saviour
Oh
wonderful Lord !
You
answered our prayers
On
Your Own Accord ! "
" We're
happy, so happy
Oh
wonderful You !
I'm
laughing, I'm crying
Don't
know what to do !
The
next day was Christmas
And
under the tree
I
put down a present.....
" To
You God, from me. "
Later
mama she opened
The
present and read:
"
God I'll keep all my
promises
Just
like I said. "
" I'll
always be good
And
I'll always do right ;
I
promised You if
You'd
heal mama last night. "
" I'll
try not to fail You
Dear
Lord how I'll try
But
forgive me in case
That
I do by and by. "
That
Christmas my prayers
And
tears that would fall
Would
bring me a present
The
best of them all.
Each
year now at Christmas
I
still kneel and pray
To
thank my Dear Lord for
My
gift on that day.
( He'd
rather have mama
Than
candy or toys )
God,
thanks for the moms
And
for good little boys !
